Men’s Cosplay Costume Ideas
Posted on 23 February 2022
Imagine you have your first comic con to addend to. Or a fun dress-up party coming up this weekend. Or you need a costume for Halloween. And you still have no idea what to wear! What do you do? That’s right, you go online and search for a good costume idea. You go through so many websites that it’s impossible to keep track of it anymore. That’s why we decided to help you out, so we compiled a list of a few costumes that you might like. Feel free to steal these ideas and use them for your next big event! After all, you want to look your absolute best when you get there, isn’t that right?
Michael Jackson from “Thriller”
This is such an iconic look! And you can just never go wrong with it. A lot of men decide to dress up as the King of Pop on Halloween or for a dress-up party. If you want to impress your friends, why not wear his bright red suit from the famous song “Thriller”? This costume isn’t that difficult to recreate and you are surely going to be recognised as Michael Jackson if you decide to wear it. For a more authentic look try curling your hair (if it’s long enough), put some mousse in it, and maybe even opt for a black temporary hair dye. You’re going to make heads turn!
The Joker
Probably one of the most popular costume ideas, The Joker just never goes out of style. Doesn’t really matter which Joker you choose to go as, either it’s the one from 2008 or 2019, you’re undoubtedly going to make an impression. All you need for this costume is some face paint, hair dye (we recommend using a temporary colour) and a suit. You can either buy it online or you can try and make one by yourself, thrifting the old, not needed suit you might have. It’s a great idea to also check the second-hand stores for some inspiration and cheaper alternatives, however, it might be somewhat difficult to find specifically what you need. Nonetheless, we do encourage you not to give up and keep looking until you find something that you can work with.

Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad
Now, everyone has seen at least a few episodes of Breaking Bad! It’s a great show and there are lots of characters you can dress up as. And while you can go as Jesse Pinkman or Walter White aka Heisenberg, let’s talk about the boss of the show – Gustavo. His look is just so prominent and unique that it would be impossible to mistake you for somebody else! So, if you're looking for a cosplay or Halloween character, Gustavo Fring would be a great choice, as he is quite scary when you think about it (refer to the explosion scene, if you know what we mean). To get his look, wear a yellow suit and frameless glasses, and you’re all set to go.
Freddie Mercury
When dressing up as Freddie Mercury, probably one of the best-known singers in the world, you will have an entire array of choices, and some of them would be super easy to recreate. Think of his outfit at the Live Aid! It’s so simple yet nothing screams more “Freddie Mercury” than that (well, maybe also his yellow jacket). All you need is a pair of light blue jeans, a white vest and a black belt with studs in it! If you want to go an extra mile and you don’t already have a mustache, you might consider getting a fake one to resemble Mercury’s. It’s this easy and we’re sure you’re going to get so many compliments on your look!
Naruto
Any anime fans here? We do remember about you! Naruto is just one of the possible choices but frankly, you can dress up as any of your favourite anime characters! Naruto is great, however, because his look is quite unique and idiosyncratic. Plus, there are multiple costume choices online that you can choose from! Many of them come with bottoms, coat, waist rope, apron, and wristbands, and because he’s such a well-known character, the costume is easily accessible and usually available in many sizes. You can not only dress up as Naruto for the anime convention or comic con, it’s also a perfect outfit for Halloween! You definitely won’t be disappointed if you choose to go with this character.
Deciding what to wear for Halloween or comic con can be quite tricky when there are so many choices out there. The bottom line is, you need to feel comfortable in whatever you choose to wear. Whether it’s the Joker or Freddie Mercury, we hope these costume ideas are prove to be helpful.
