How To Choose The Right Handbag

Posted on 4th February 2022

There’s no denying that a good and a beautiful bag is pretty much one of the most important accessories a woman could possibly own. However, there’s so many bags to choose from – so many different materials, colours and styles. You can go for a tote bag, a clutch, a crossbody bag, a pouch – and it’s just to name a few! There’s no limit to types of bags could find on the market. But how do you choose the right handbag specifically for you? Well, there are quite a few things to consider.

First of all, you need to take into consideration your figure and height. This is very simple: if you’re quite a petite woman, then a large bag is going to overwhelm your overall appearance. It’s going to look unnatural and you probably will have some trouble carrying that bag, meaning it most likely will be uncomfortable. If you’re quite tall and well-built, then a tiny little clutch might not be the best idea, as it’s going to disappear in the background of your outfit. Therefore, in this case, it’s all about the proportions and the scale.

Generally speaking, if you are looking for a perfect shoulder bag, you should aim for the one that ends around your mid-torso, because it’s going to draw attention to your waist and this way accentuate it the most. If it ends around your hip area, it’s going to play up your hips, as the eyes are naturally drawn to the bag first.

Now, let’s talk comfort. No matter what kind of bag you decide to go for, remember to always check whether it is comfortable to carry it around. If it’s a shoulder bag, make sure that it sits comfortably on your shoulder without sliding off or you needing to re-adjust it every so often. If it’s a backpack, make sure your back doesn’t hurt and the straps aren’t digging into your shoulders. If it’s a clutch, is it comfortable to hold it in your hands? Does it feel like it’s going to slip away at any given point? Or maybe it’s too big for your hands and you simply don’t even want to carry it like that at all? After all, you want to choose something that will serve you well for a long time. Bags are quite expensive, so buying a new every month is definitely not an option you want to go for.

Another thing worth considering is the weight of the bag. Remember, you will most likely carry everything you think you might need (and even more!) in that bag, so you don’t want it to be too heavy to begin with. Take a note of all the metal details on the bag – those might add the unnecessary weight to your bag. If it’s too heavy when it’s empty, chances are you’re going to be miserable when carrying it around when it’s full. You don’t want your days to be ruined just because of a bag. Come on, you’ve got the world to conquer!

You know what’s very important? We bet you didn’t think pockets! But that’s right, you want just the right number of pockets in your bag. It all depends on a personal preference – do you like the empty void inside and just a couple of pockets or do you need the inside of your bag to be divided into sections where you can store a folder (when you’re going to work!), a tablet, your wallet or any other accessories you might have? See, checking a new bag for this should be a priority. Don’t let it slide! Check for any hidden pockets, small pockets for your keys or if it’s a clutch, see if it has card pockets to store such essentials as your bank card, driver’s license, and whatever else you might need during your time out in the city.

To conclude, when choosing the right bag, you need to consider three important aspects: comfort, the weight of the bag, and pockets. If you pay attention to these three things, we are sure you will always, no matter how hard the decision is, choose the right handbag and will be satisfied with your pick. Of course, let’s not forget about the style and colour of the bag – it’s just as important as the practicality of it. However, if you’re looking for something that will last you ages, there’s nothing better than choosing comfort over anything else. Ultimately, the right bag will you, and you will know that it’s “the one”.
