Footwear Every Man Should Own
Posted on 17 February 2022
How many pairs of shoes a man should have? What kind of shoes do I need to own? What shoes should I wear for this or that occasion? If you’re asking yourself these questions, welcome! We’re going to try and answer them as best as we can.
Now, everybody knows that ladies tend to have quite an impressive collection of shoes. They have shoes for all the different occasions, seasons or even vibes they are feeling that day. Their shoes are coordinated with their outfits and accessories, so that the footwear they are wearing always matches whatever it is that they decide to put on. But what about men? Men tend to have fewer pairs of boots but that’s not a bad thing at all! The shoes they own are usually quite universal and stylish. So, let’s take a look at some of the them and decide what occasion they would suit best.
Derby Shoes or Oxford Shoes
This is the first item on the list, because these shoes cover so many occasions. When it’s time to go to a more formal event, like a wedding or graduation, or if you just want to chill out with the lads at some nice restaurant, a pair of Derby or Oxford shoes will be the perfect choice for you. These shoes prove to be not only universal and trendy but oftentimes quite comfortable if you make the right choice. And when it comes to making that right decision, there are so many styles and colours to choose from! You can go with anything from black to tan, light brown, or even something like Oxblood. However, if you’re more of a traditional guy, we recommend sticking with either black or dark brown, so that it’s easier to style it. You don’t want that extra headache when you’re about to leave for that special event!
Smart Trainers
Imagine you’re going on a night out with your friends. Oxford shoes are a no-go, as they are too fancy and regular trainers are too casual, so you can’t wear them either. What you need is a pair of smart trainers – they are great, because they're comfortable and look presentable enough to pass for a lot of activities in your daily life without looking sloppy. Wondering what pair to get? That’s easy! The key features to look for are typically a leather upper with minimal styling, and one colour. We would recommend going for something rather tamed, such as black or grey with a nice design. There is a vast choice when it comes to trainers, so you definitely don’t have to worry about finding the right shoes, as it’s not going to be hard. Just make sure that they are comfortable and sit well on your foot, and you’re good to go!
"Craziness in a shoe is great – you can have much more freedom, you can exaggerate and it doesn’t feel stupid. But to have too much craziness near your face, that would just feel weird."
- Miuccia Prada
Sports Trainers
Now this is type of shoe is something that absolutely every man needs to have in their life. Whether you’re hitting the gym, or going for a run, or running errands around the city, there’s nothing better or more comfortable than sports trainers. Nowadays people are becoming more and more active – they simply prefer to stay in shape, and they're ditching their old-fashioned ideas about what sports style should be. They want the classics from brands who've been established in the industry for a long time, or they go for high-end, luxurious footwear. That’s why investing in a good pair of sports trainers is a great idea – you want them to last for a few seasons, be durable and wearable. And if they look really nice as well, that’s just an amazing bonus!
White Trainers
White trainers deserve an honorable mention on our list. Even though they come and go in fashion, recently they’ve been in style and many people are quite happy with the way they look. Of course, they are not ideal when it comes their maintenance, however, they just look so great with many outfits. Whenever you’re going out with your friends or family, and you want to look a little bit more put-together, just put them on and you’re good to go. It’s just such a classy look that doesn’t really go out of style. So, if you don’t have a pair of white trainers yet, consider buying one and you definitely won’t regret it!
And that concludes our list of shoes every man should own. The great thing about the items on this list is that the footwear we’ve presented is suitable for all the possible occasions you can imagine – weddings, graduations, going out, running errands, going to the gym, you name it! You don’t need an insane amount of boots that you wouldn’t even wear because, let’s be real, we all have that one pair of our favourite shoes that we wear all the time.
