There is a variety of different toys on the market – big, small, colourful, heavy, light, cheap, expensive – you name it. And we do understand that you want your kid to have everything their heart might desire, even those expensive, but let’s be real, very often useless toys. Therefore, instead of spending money on something your children might forget about in the matter of days, buy toys that will actually stimulate their abilities, will help them to learn and discover. Such toys are universal, suitable for both – girls and boys, and typically they tend to last for a longer period of time. So, what are these toys and what are their benefits?

Unit blocks

Unit blocks are perfect for girls and boys. Think about it, you can build literally anything if you have your simple wooden blocks. It’s useful to have a whole bunch of them, so that building is more fun. Your kid would be able to construct absolutely anything from them – a little house, a castle, a car – their imagination is the limit! The most amazing thing about wooden blocks is that your kids can play with them either alone or with other children. Moreover, the wooden blocks can be painted and tailored to your kid’s needs. Want it pink, yellow or maybe red? No problem, just grab those paints and brushes, and help your child to decorate it. That’s endless fun for both of you and a perfect bonding experience all at the same time!

Legos

Undoubtedly, legos are similar to wooden blocks we have just mentioned but that’s really where your child is going to shine. It’s a perfect toy that encourages your child’s development of motor skills as well as their creativity. Assembling the blocks is not always an easy task, that’s why they can stay busy with it for hours! You definitely won’t hear a cry when your child is playing with legos, trust us, that’s a toy you want to have in your house. They are perfect for most ages and they will last your child for years.

Art supplies

What is a better way to stimulate your child’s creativity than giving them a piece of paper and some pencils or markers? That’s a great opportunity for your child to show how original and artistic they might be. Who knows, maybe there’s a soul of an artist hidden somewhere deep down in there? But don’t limit yourself and your little sunshine to only that, get as many art supplies as your budget allows you – colourful paper, glitter, crayons, glue, maybe even some colourful clay or a set of acrylic paints. You’ll be surprised how readily your children will grab onto everything you’ll present them with. That’s a perfect way to keep them entertained for hours on end!

Fidget toys

These toys are so popular and trendy nowadays, we simply could not overlook them when compiling this list. You can get them literally anywhere you go and that’s for a good reason – these toys tend to have a soothing and calming effect. You’ve noticed that your child keeps fiddling with different objects, perhaps has trouble focusing and paying attention? Try getting one of the fidget toys and observe how their ability to focus increases. Even though at first it might seem like a distraction, it actually helps those with anxiety, psychological stress and nervous energy in general. What’s even better, this toy is perfect for girls and boys alike, and it is suitable pretty much for all ages. You can test it for yourself – you’ll feel an immediate relief and you’ll be able to go on about your day stress-free.

Sports equipment

Staying at home is OK, but once in a while it’s useful to get out of the house and be active, get those bones moving. That’s why getting your child some sports equipment is definitely a good idea. Look for something that encourages physical exercise – skipping ropes, balls, skates, age-appropriate riding toys. A great idea would be for you to join your kid, so that they wouldn’t feel isolated and alone in their activities. Go bike-riding or skating together and you’ll see how much fun that is. You will not only bring loads of joy to your child, but also you’ll get plenty of exercise yourself. That’s a win-win situation!

You don’t have to spend too much money on toys that might just sit in the corner of your kid’s room. When you know what to invest in, everything becomes much more simple. It doesn’t have to be much, but the important thing is to make sure that these toys bring something into your children’s life – whether that’s some relief and peace, or educational value. At the end of the day, it’s all that matters.
